Thai coffee chain Café Amazon launches in Bashundhara

Thailand’s leading coffee chain Café Amazon officially launched its commercial operations in Bangladesh on Thursday (August 6).

Bashundhara Group, in partnership with Thailand’s PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (PTT OR), launched Café Amazon Bangladesh, introducing the Thai brand to the local market.

The first phase of the inauguration ceremony was held at 11:30am at Café Amazon’s flagship store in the capital’s Bashundhara Residential Area.

Sayem Sobhan Anvir, Chairman of Anvir Bashundhara Group (ABG); Ahmed Ibrahim Sobhan, Managing Director of Tanvir Bashundhara Group (TBG); Thai Ambassador to Bangladesh Thitiporn Chirasawadi; Royal Thai Embassy Minister Counsellor for Commercial Affairs Anusorn Kautipvittaya; and Hungarian-Thai Chamber of Commerce President Pojjana Paniangvait attended the ceremony.

The second phase of the inauguration was held at the atrium of Bashundhara City Shopping Mall at 3pm. Open to the public and coffee enthusiasts, the programme featured traditional Thai cultural performances and other entertainment activities.

Founded in Thailand in 2002 and operated by PTT OR, Café Amazon has grown into the country’s largest coffee chain, operating thousands of outlets in Thailand and overseas. The brand is known for its freshly brewed coffee and nature-inspired café environment.

Under the leadership of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, the group has introduced a range of international brands and consumer experiences to Bangladesh.

The launch of Café Amazon further reflects Bashundhara Group’s efforts to expand the country’s modern retail sector and create new opportunities for investment, employment and entrepreneurship.
