ABG Foundation Extends Helping Hand to Burn Victim with Treatment Costs

The Anvir Bashundhara Group (ABG) Foundation has extended financial assistance for the treatment of 25-year-old burn victim Rakib Hossain after learning about his condition through a social media post.

Rakib, the son of hotel worker Abdur Rahim from Sonakhali village in Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur, works as a tree cutter. He suffered severe burn injuries after coming into contact with a live power line while cutting a tree.

Following initial treatment at a local hospital and later in Barishal, he was referred to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka for advanced care.

Unable to bear the mounting medical expenses, Rakib's father appealed for help through a social media post describing his son's condition. The post caught the attention of the chairman of the ABG Foundation, who directed the organisation to provide immediate medical assistance.

On Sunday, Foundation Coordinator Md Amir Hossain Mia visited the hospital and handed over financial support to Rakib's father to help cover treatment and medication costs.

Expressing his gratitude, Rahim said the family had no means of financing the treatment after his son sustained severe burns in the accident. He thanked the foundation for responding promptly after seeing the social media post and prayed for the well-being of its members.
Rakib's brother said the injured youth had already undergone surgery on one of his hands and that most of his body remains covered in bandages as he continues to receive treatment.

Foundation Coordinator Md Amir Hossain Mia said the financial assistance was provided under the direct instructions of the ABG Foundation chairman after he saw Rakib's photographs and reports on social media.
He added that the foundation was committed to supporting people in need and would continue carrying out humanitarian initiatives in the future under the chairman's guidance.
