Blankets bring warmth to 50 destitute families in Bhangura

Members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho have distributed blankets among 50 helpless families in Bhangura upazila of Pabna.

The upazila unit Shuvosangho organised the event at Chhoto Bishakole village, with Zahid Hasan, adviser of the unit, providing overall support for this initiative.

Shuvosangho members said the organisation has been distributing blankets among helpless and needy families in villages under the upazila for the past six years.

They select the most poverty-prone areas among the 113 villages of the upazila for blanket distribution. Afterward, the poor and helpless families in these villages are identified and listed for the purpose.

In continuation of this, blankets have been distributed among the needy families of Chhoto Bishakol village. Next week, blankets will be distributed at Pathorghata village, they said.

Expressing gratitude to Bashundhara Shuvosangho, widow Mitali Khatun said, “I have no land or property. I live on the embankment. All my sons and daughters now have their own families with grandchildren. But no one cares for me. I spend my days in great hardship. Receiving a blanket in the cold weather has been a great help.”

Elderly Taju Molla said, “I am a helpless person. There is no one to look after me except Allah. I suffer whether I have enough to eat or not. But enduring the cold is especially difficult. 

“This blanket will help ease the suffering of winter. May Allah bless everyone, and I pray that those who extend their support to us may continue to stand by even more people in need.”

Bhangura unit Shuvosangho General Secretary Shakib Khan said the members of the upazila unit are committed to distributing winter clothing, providing food items, and raising public awareness about various social issues. As part of these efforts, this blanket distribution was organised. 

In addition, Shuvosangho members have earned appreciation from different sections of society in this upazila for their social and humanitarian work, he said. 

In future, Shakib added, Shuvosangho will continue and expand such activities for the welfare of society and the people.
