A private university teacher in the capital, Yasmin Ara, who has been battling cancer, has received financial assistance from Anvir Bashundhara Group (ABG) Foundation to help cover her treatment costs.
Yasmin, a long-time teacher, is known to her students and colleagues as an inspiring educator. However, her life was disrupted after she was diagnosed with cancer, while the cost of her treatment also placed her family under severe financial strain.
"I have already spent a lot on my treatment. One injection alone cost Tk100,000. My cancer was diagnosed at stage three and has spread to my lymph nodes. As a result, I have to undergo oral chemotherapy," Yasmin said.
"These medicines cost around Tk65,000 a month," she added.
Despite feeling unwell, Yasmin continued attending classes for as long as she could.
"My students really like my classes. I hope I can return to work once I feel a little better. I do not like sitting idle. Once I recover, I want to do something again," she said.
After learning about her situation, Anvir Bashundhara Group Foundation extended financial assistance to support her advanced treatment as part of its social responsibility initiatives.
Anvir Bashundhara Group Foundation Chief Coordinator Md Aminul Islam said, "We have provided her with financial assistance and assured her that the Chairman of Anvir Bashundhara Group Foundation stand by her. Our Chairman has always extended a helping hand to people in distress. We urge other affluent members of society to come forward with similar humanitarian initiatives."
The assistance has provided Yasmin not only with financial relief but also renewed hope and courage. She expressed her determination to overcome cancer and return to the classroom to continue inspiring her students.
