ABG Foundation extends support to elderly man after newspaper report

The Anvir Bashundhara Group (ABG) Foundation has provided financial assistance for the treatment of an unidentified elderly man who was found abandoned on a roadside in Madaripur after a newspaper report highlighted his plight.

The report also helped reunite the man with his family, who traced him and rushed to Madaripur Sadar Hospital after reading the news.

According to sources, the man, believed to be around 70, had been lying helpless beside a road near the Legal Aid office in the Panichatra area of Madaripur town for several days. Due to old age, illness and physical weakness, he was unable to walk properly.

Although passers-by offered him food and water, his identity remained unknown and no relatives could be located.

Volunteers of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, local youths and journalists later rescued him and admitted him to Madaripur Sadar Hospital. However, he was unable to clearly identify himself or provide his address while undergoing treatment.

After the report was published, the ABG Foundation stepped forward with financial support for his medical treatment.

Shyamal Pandey, social services officer at Madaripur Sadar Hospital, said the man's relatives were able to trace him after the news report was published.

"At the same time, the ABG Foundation provided financial assistance for his treatment. Their humanitarian initiative is truly commendable," he said.

Madaripur District Probation Officer BM Asaduzzaman also praised the foundation's support, saying its compassionate gesture set a positive example for society.
The elderly man's son, Tarek Hossain Molla, expressed gratitude to the ABG Foundation for extending financial assistance for his father's treatment.
